What is it?
Visualization is vividly imagining or mentally picturing in our mind. Visualization happens quite naturally, yet usually in an undirected, undisciplined way - and for many people in a negative manner. Some people claim they cannot see images in their minds and instead are able to imagine - this serves the same purpose.
Why is it important?
Visualization is very important in directing ourselves toward our future. Many performance coaches utilize visualization extensively to help their clients "see" a future they deeply desire to live into. A very common mis-use of visualization is worry, which is a negative form of imagining or visualizing things we fear or do not want - or perhaps secretly do want! This function of the mind is a very powerful tool for people and we are well served by learning to visualize and imagine positive things that we believe we can be, achieve and have.
